 About/ Price/ Bather Reviews/Directions
Please remember to take off all your silver jewelry before you bathe !!!
Ngawha Springs is a small settlement approximately five kilometres east of the town of Kaikohe, Northland in New Zealand.
It is the location of Ngawha Springs, a hot water spring that reputedly has therapeutic properties for those who bathe in its waters, and is the source of the steam used at the Ngawha geothermal field's power station.
Facilities are very basic and it is recommended that you bring footwear. There are no showers, only basic changing facilities. The pools themselves vary daily in temperature and so give you a wide range of hot springs from the rather cool 32'c to the extremely hot "Favourite" and "Doctor". A taste of the more traditionally run springs at a bargain price. Note: that you will smell rather sulphurous! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ngawha_Springs)
  • Adults: NZ $4
  • Senior Community Card holders:  NZ $3
  • High-school and College students:  NZ $2
  • Primary school students:  NZ $1

Please bring cash, as there are no Credit Card or EFTPOS facilities. If the office is unattended, there’s an honesty box.  The pools are usually open 9am till 9pm, and you are welcome to stay at the pools for as long as you want to during the day after you enter. You can contact the Waiariki pool’s office on 09 405 2245

These pools are one of the most fab ways I have ever found to get some real time-out!…… a multitude of different cozy pools, ranging in temperature so the whole family is relaxed and happy  be warned—> my eight year old usually takes around 20 minutes after arriving before she will unclamp her nose :p truly an awesome place to stop while visiting Northland! xox [Jules, Auckland NZ]

Very calm and relaxing atmosphere. Be warned - the facility looks like it's falling apart and many of the walkways and shelters look like they're falling apart, but the hot pools are wonderful - very low key, uncrowded, and relaxing. Change rooms but no lockers, no showers, but just $4 to soak in one of about 8 different pools. Be prepared for the broken-down look of the place, and for the dark, opaque water, and then enjoy yourself!

Amazing place to visit in NZ.After speaking to local people I was surprised to know this place has great historical significance. Place lacks Lustre but is very natural. The pool water is heated naturaly with geothermal activities. Temp varies from 36 - 51 degree celcius. I could only go up to 45 degree celcius though. As it gets darker you feel a lot closer to the nature. You need to visit it once at least in your life time. I like to thank Diane for being patient with me in answering all my curiosity driven questions. It was an amazing experience and will definately go back again.
